African Lion
Some
would tell me "It's about time you drew an African Lion". I have been wanting to
do this for years however, in the past, I had always thought of myself as an
American wildlife illustrator. Well ... I am, I mean I'm an American that
happens to be an illustrator. That doesn't mean I can't draw animals from around
the world as well, so I did. Actually this is just the beginning. I plan on
doing more animals for all over in the future. There is one thing I learned
about male African Lions that I didn't know before starting this drawing and
that is the color of their coat is largely determined by the amount of red meat
they eat. The more red meat they eat the darker or more reddish their coat
becomes. With in mind I added reddish colors not only in his coat but in the
background as well.
